Default 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' - High-Def Digest Review

E has reviewed 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug'. He says this improves upon its predecessor. The Blu-ray features reference-quality audio and video, and a majority of the supplements are exclusive. The overall package makes for a fine purchase for those impatient for the eventual extended edition. Recommended.

This is actually a blind buy for me this week, as I was so disappointed by THE HOBBIT, that I skipped this sequel in the theaters. Glad to hear it's an improvement over the last film. Nice review!

Arrows and footsteps above the audience? Do you have an Atmos setup at home that we don't know about?

Another incredible adventure in Middle Earth. However, I'll be waiting for the Extended Edition in Nov.

I've never been able to wait for the extended editions - I'm too impatient for that - so I'll be picking this up on Tuesday.

I am impatient too! I purchased the iTunes Digital copy in hd to hold me over until the extended version comes out.

Btw, I loved the barrel sequence! Very cool to watch.

I've had enough of Peter Jackson's extended editions.

at 161 minutes this is perfectly fine by me. I may pick this up this week.

Will there be an Extended Edition? Has anyone actually said so?

I've had the 3D version on order since 3/19, and even if people didn't like it, it takes a lot to get me to cancel an order!

Edit:
See my impressions here

I thought this was a damn good movie.
