This will be my second 3D disc that I will buy, the only other 3D disc I own is Avatar. It's strange that they only include a 5.1 mix, I saw the movie at a digital IMAX and then at a theater with Dolby Atmos. I definitely prefer the one with Atmos sound, I felt like I was space along with the characters in the movie.

Gotta say, I hate the term "Must Own" for a review. If you're someone who saw and hated the movie, then the movie will never be a "Must Own" for you. It's one of my pet peeves from when Blu-Ray was newer and you'd go to forums and someone would say they just started buying Blu and ask, "Which movies are must owns?" No movie is a "Must Own" unless the person buying it feels it is.

That said, I haven't seen this movie yet. I think the theater by me is still showing it in Faux-IMAX 3D. If I can get out of the driveway through the snow, I might have to check it out.

the exclusion of the original 7.1 theatrical mix is just baffling and applaud Mr. Palmer expressed his opinion of the sound mix - why Cuaron thinks the 5.1 mix is acceptable for the home video release when 7.1 speaker setups are becoming more common place is frustrating to say the least.

"Must own" to show off your home theater to your neighbor Carl who thinks his brand new snow blower is more impressive. "Must not own" if you can't stand Sandra Bollocks.

I actually pre-ordered the 3D version before I ever saw it in theaters. Once I did, it was undoubtable to me. I think anyone with a 3D set-up should own this film. I can't wait to get this going on my plasma.

I have nothing against this movie, but I just don't get the big deal about it. Now granted, I haven't seen it yet, will do so when it comes on Netflix, but I am worried with how hyped this thing is that I am going to be disappointed.

I completely disagree with the reviewer's statements regarding the Atmos sound mixing. I saw this film 8 times, theatrically; 5 times in IMAX and 3 times in an Atmos auditorium. I strongly prefer the IMAX sound mixing. I've seen every major blockbuster that has been featured in Dolby Atmos, and believe me when I say that 'Gravity' benefited from Atmos less than any Atmos featured film, with the exception of 'A Good Day to Die Hard'. The sound production of 'Gravity' simply isn't conducive to Atmos mixing. After all, how much can Atmos do with silence? Now, granted, much of the film is obviously not silent, but even the atmospherics of 'Gravity' are designed more for pinpoint accuracy, than broad scope imaging. Most of what is taking place on screen is designed to be smothering and claustrophobic. There's just not a lot that could take advantage of what Atmos brings to the table. The IMAX sound mixing was vastly superior for this film. 'Gravity' requires raw power and brute force. IMAX delivers this in spades, and perfectly recreates the claustrophobic dimensionality.

Super-Duper, Highly Recommended just doesn't have the same ring.
I'm okay with the "Must Own." What superlative higher than Highly Recommended
do you suggest?

Isn't that true for any rating (not just Must Own) that a reader disagrees with?
