Unhappy How to flatten a bent Blu-Ray disc?

I recently spent $8 on a blu-ray copy of Sleepy Hollow that seemed fine to me. The disc didn't have any scratches and the box was a little beat up but I could live with that. I figured I had gotten a pretty good deal and that the low price was due to the disc's (comparatively) 'old' age.

It turns out there was something I had completely overlooked and didn't even know was possible: the disc was bent!

When I put it in my PS3, it goes crazy with a loud 'clacking' noise for a few seconds before it gives up on trying to read it. I've tried stacking a mountain of books on top of it to flatten it out, and even desperately tried to wring it back into shape manually, but none of these worked.

It's not TOO badly bent, there's just one side of it that is slightly raised. Has anyone run into this kind of problem before? Anyone have any ideas how to fix it?

I found something on Yahoo Answers that suggested putting the disc in the oven, though that seems a little risky for a Blu-Ray disc - even an $8 hand-me-down.

try exchanging it at WalMart, Best Buy, Target, etc. Don't waste time trying to fix it and don't DON'T attempt to put it back in your PS3 and take a chance of breaking it. Not worth the $8!

If it were me I would throw the disk away and go buy a new one rather than risk damaging a $500-600 console.
What he said.^

This would definitely work at Wal Mart. They'll just give you a brand new disc and you'll be set. All you have to do is say something like "I bought this disc and when I took it out it wouldn't work in my player, its bent." If all else fails, cause a scene and you'll get a new one for sure.

Im guessing the only way that the disc could of become bent is by leaving it in extreme heat by the previous owner thus causing the warp in the disc. The disc is pretty much done for because there would be no way of re heating it and making it the same shape as it was before. Also im pretty sure the data is in someway damaged too. I would suggest you just take your lost or try to return it.

When I had warped laserdiscs, I'd put one between two panes of glass and put something heavy on top for about a day. You shouldn't have to deal with this though. Walmarts in my area have really tightened down about returns without receipts.

yea, im with the others, either get the movie again or not even worry about it but jacking up your PS3 because of a movie is not worth it. You can get sleepy hollow on Amazon right now for $16. The PS3 is still $500 brand new heh.
