Although early reviews weren't favorable for this film, it seems like there are more positive reviews than negative overall. I think this will be day 1 for me as well, for the 3D version.

Do not listen to the negative reviews.

This movie was pure awesomeness.

If you can go see it in IMAX 3D.

...and preordered.

Probably my favorite movie this summer so far. Not a very deep movie obviously, but it has the same fun factor as watching ID4 for the first time. Pure popcorn movie. You should watch it in IMAX 3D, but I recommend the last row. >.<

I have lost all faith in humanity since seeing Grown Ups 2, a shitty Adam Sandler movie with no plot, make more at the box office than Pacific Rim on opening weekend. I usually say "there's no accounting for taste," but seriously, what the hell is wrong with people?

Anyhow, pre-ordered it to support the film. I've already seen it twice, and I think it's among the best summer blockbusters I've seen. ID4, TDK, T2, and Top Gun were the other ones that really stood out as fun summer movies that I saw in the theater.

I have to agree with you there, lol. Too many people watched Grown Ups 2 opening weekend than should have been legally allowed, imo. Still...tastes are subjective to one's pallete.

Day 1 blind buy for Pacific Rim. Cant wait to fire this one up in my blu player!!

I said the same with regard to Fast and Furious 6. Then I saw 5 on TV.

I lost all faith in humanity long ago.

It's also a sign you are getting older maybe

I don't think that's it. It's not like Pacific Rim is some mature piece of art. It's pretty silly and fun. Every review I've seen at some point says "this made me feel like a kid again."
