Scream Factory have announced that they will be releasing the restored cut of Clive Barker's Nightbreed with its extra 45 mins. at long last we get to finally see a cut that is close to what Barker originally intended:

Quote:
We are VERY excited that you guys are so excited!! We see you have lots of questions but for now, we do not have any specific details to share - and mostly like for awhile as this will be a 2014 release for us. We know its hard to be patient, but we ask that you will be and that we are working on delivering you the best we can.

Would that be COBAL cut? It is confusing though calling it "2014" as that implies it is a remake or such.

There are some reviews of this extended cut that are up on IMDB - there's been a theatrical tour with this cut. The reviewers are saying that the added footage was from a VHS source.

If that's the case then I hope they will offer the original cut as a seemless branching type deal. In any case it'll be good to have this one on Blu Ray!

Man, it's been ages since I saw this one so I'm probably going to pick it up when it comes out.

I'm really hoping that they managed to find the original film elements for the extra footage. For years, Barker's personal VHS copy has been the only known source for it. Seems kind of fruitless to bother reconstructing the movie if you can't do better than that.

I hope so too but I'm not holding my breath. I'll just be glad to see the cut in any form.

Did they just dump the film after it hit theatres? I'm just kind of surprised they'd let the final prints vanish like that.

sounds very cool....and someone already asked Shout and the confirmed that the limited edition would indeed be hitting amazon. good to know cuz they apparently already sold 1000 of the 5000 and the shout site secured the next 1000. so that means there will only be 3000 available elswhere.

i would have totally gotten this off their site but being in canada, its an extra 30 bucks for shipping. i'm hoping it might be a little less through amazon or if lucky, amazon canada gets it!!
