Default 'A Boy and His Dog' - High-Def Digest Review

Shannon has reviewed 'A Boy and His Dog.' This isn't his favorite film, but he thinks it's worth checking out if you've never seen it. As for this Blu-ray, with an improved transfer and an exclusive new sit-down interview, he says it warrants a purchase. Recommended.

The DVD was reportedly letterboxed. Is this letterboxed, or is it true anamorphic widescreen?

It's HD. The idea of letter boxed doesn't exist anymore. Everything is encoded to native res of the TV.

Any game that features paid loot boxes should be rated AO.

Man this seems like a mediocre release.

I was also a bit put down by the reviewer's take on the sound. He states
"As mono goes, this track sounds really good…with no popping, hissing, or cracking in the soundtrack. Dialogue is clean, fairly crisp, and easy to understand. I detected no dropouts or other technical issues with the track."

I would think an audio track with no issues, even mono, would get higher than 3 stars. I guess 3 stars=good and this track is good

I may wait for a price drop on this. I wish Criterion took this title.

That would be the correct assumption.

Letterboxing still exists for any content with an aspect ratio wider than 16:9. You're confusing letterboxing (the black bars themselves) with anamorphic enhancement, which is what doesn't exist in the HD realm.

I was going to correct myself later. On my phone.

I Netflixed this movie awhile ago, and it really did nothing for me. I found the end far more interesting than the rest of the film, and felt they should have spent much more time there. Don Johnson just wasn't that interesting of a character in the film and it seemed most the best acting was done by the Dog and the voice actor.
