Great! The DVD leaves a lot to be improved upon. I really hope they do a restoration but I'm a bit skeptical as this is not a overly popular Christmas film although it is a favorite of my wife and I.

The film was never colorized as far as I know. Color was available though still expensive at the time.

Love this movie - one of my favorite Christmas movies. It's way better than the remake.

Thank you Warner Bros.

Default The Bishop's Wife - Colorized Edition - People Want It

The colorized version of The Bishop's Wife was aired just a couple of times in the early 80's. I thought it was beautiful, especially when Dudley lit up the Christmas tree. Black & White just doesn't do it justice. I know that the artsy-fartsies of the world think that the director's "vision" for the film should be upheld over and above what people want to see but it should be made available in color for those of us who want to appreciate it in color, and we are many. I would pay over $50.00 for a colorized copy of this movie and I'm sure many others would as well. I'm sure that if the artsy-fartsies start seeing enough dollars associated with the colorized version, they'd break down and release the movie in color. Everything has a price.
