Default I accidently ordered a DVD when I wanted the Blu-Ray! (Amazon/Criterion)

One night (late at night) I added every Criterion Blu-Ray on Amazon to watch list, and I check it for price drops. So I see 'Le Samourai' pretty cheap, 1 Click order it...open the package...why is the case black? Damn it!

I just needed to get that out there lol.

Anyone know how smoothly this return process will go?

Most movies that have been opened are yours to keep, unless defective, then they will exchange it for the same title.

Well, it's still sealed. When I said I opened it, I meant the shipping package.

Contact customer service and tell them you ordered the DVD by mistake. They may give you free return shipping and send you out the Blu-ray right away. Worse case you'll just pay return shipping, which is only about $1.50 or so, and they'll credit your account when they receive it.

No way is it $1.50, closer to $2.50/$3

But you are right Amazon is awesome about this so contact them. Why keep it when you really want the blu ray.

It estimates the shipping cost to be just under $4...the DVD cost about $16...so it's worth getting my $12 back, as it's unpleasant for me to watch most DVDs now anyway after being so used to Blu-Ray clarity.

I guess rates have gone up then. I swore I saw postage of less than $2 on packages mailed to me.

Every blu ray I've had to mail out was over $2, I think it was actually $2.41. I am using the Amazon yellow envelopes that are bubble lined inside.

The $3.6X price they quoted me was an estimate, and it might be based on some sort of average. I'll post how much it costs, but keep in mind, it will also be returned via UPS, not USPS.
