Default Bad Feeling About This

I hope this doesn't become some kind of a trend. Paramount/CBS seems to want to milk the Star Trek fans of every penny they've got. No doubt there will be special features on this set to differentiate it from the same eps. in the season set.

Just preordered. Yeah, they may be milking me, but I missed the Star Trek releases on VHS and DVD, and at this point in my life, I have money to finally buy this stuff. Best of Both Worlds really worked out well not being split, so hoping to see the same with Redemtion

Uh... I'm with reidw: I hope this isn't becoming a trend.

I thought it was really neat that they isolated the Best of Both Worlds episodes as a standalone release. It was something I hadn't seen much before, except with Dragonball Z and stuff like that. It was really cool!

But this announcement already muddles the coolness of the Best of Both Worlds one. If anything, this makes it feel much less special.

I'm not a Star Trek diehard by any means (hell, I've actually only seen JJ Abrams' Star Trek, and nothing else related to the brand! :P), but I don't think even diehard fans will appreciate this practice. Ugh.

I have a Data action figure mint in near mint package that says it is from Redemption, but that's an error. It's really from Chain of Command. (Data is wearing a red commander uniform). It is apparently worth big $. Got it for Christmas one year when a store here got the wrong shipment and they were put on the shelf for $7.99 or something.

I have the Deana Troi doll that was pulled after only being on the market a couple of days. It is apparently worth big money. I don't care, though, I am not parting with my Star Trek toys.

HDD Staff,

Is there an upcoming review of this disc?

The Best of Both Worlds got reviewed, so I'm thinking Redemption will
be, too?

-----

I understand the comments against Paramount "milking" the franchise
and "forcing" fans to fork over more funds. But I actually like these
seamlessly combined-episodes.

1) Watching a "movie" is better than watching "TV". I know, I know
these disctinctions are arbritrary. Something about the 2hr run time,
that just better captures that cinema magic.

2) I don't want the whole seasons. That may sound sacrilegious to
many Trekkies. But there's a bunch of practical reasons: financial,
availabile time to re-watch; most of these episodes have been seen a
couple or dozen times on endless, syndicated TV. By far, TV season
sets collect the most dust on my shelves.

These feature-framed episodes allow me to get my nostalgia fix, and
I can move on to current media overload.

-----

Plus if this release also has a F-ing cool slipcover like the Best of Both
Worlds has, that would make Redemption a must buy.

Yes. A review is coming. These ST: TNG seasons/releases take a lot of work. I'm trying to get through it as fast as possible.

You guys don't hear it enough (unless an extremist disagrees with your reviews
[but then what you hear isn't appreciation]), your work is appreciated.
