Default 'Repo Man' - High-Def Digest Review

E has reviewed the Criterion release of 'Repo Man.' This Blu-ray features an excellent audio/video presentation and plenty of extras. Highly recommended and a must-own for fans.

I don't think I've bought a Criterion since Fear and Loathing and I got that release week, Repo Man will end my Criterion drought.

If you're a fan of Alex Cox's films, you may want to support his latest sci fi/comedy 'Bill the Galactic Hero' that is up on Kickstarter (with 11 days to go from this post):

You know, besides Repo, the only other movie I've seen of his is Sid and Nancy.

Well, if you love Italian westerns, you really should check out Cox's 'Straight to Hell.' I love this movie, even own the soundtrack on vinyl mainly because it features music from Joel Strummer and The Pogues.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

Before giving him any money, you might want to consider that this is the sort of movie that Alex Cox makes these days:

For long-time fans of the sci-fi comedy, this is significant improvement to previous home video editions and a must-own.
This end quote should be besides the other Blu release; as:
Quote:
This is not a bad thing since it looks fantastic nonetheless and will stand as the definitive version for this cult favorite along with its UK counterpart.
starts the video review segment.

With little else to go on, this has me thinking it's the same transfer personally supervised by Cox for last year's Masters of Cinema Blu-ray release in the UK. When comparing the two releases, they appear identical with the only negligible difference between them being the contrast level, making this one a just a tad darker.
In caps (ugh) I've seen a diff in color as well.
Is this not the case?
I do like the contrast & color of the CC in "caps" compared too the MoC & would re-purchase on Blu for the slight [IMO] improvement.

"Oh... you don't want to look in there."
