Well, that's certainly an early announcement. The movie has just been released last week.

Not surprised, it is Paramount after all. The movie itself, while better than ROC, was pretty awful.

is the 3D even good on this movie? if not I'll just buy the 2D version.

Since when do movies have a $54.99 MSRP? I never noticed it before...

In the theater I went to, the movie had a couple of effective 3D moments (including the big ninja battle), but it didn't add much overall. Given how dim and colorless the picture was in that theater, I would have rather seen it in 2D.

Of course, it may play better at home where I have more control over the image.

Thanks for the input Josh. I think I'll just buy the 2D version after reading your comment. $5 savings is $5 in my pocket

For what it's worth, I felt much the same about the new Star Trek, despite seeing it in a fairly bright IMAX.

for some reasons I don't "get" Star Trek. I have the complete movie collection and I don't like any of them
