Default 'Killing Them Softly' - High-Def Digest Review

Kevin has turned in a great review for 'Killing Them Softly.' He says this unique crime film might make a great double feature with 'The Limey.' Recommended.

We watched it a while ago. IMHO a pretty stupid movie. Too many conversations for no reason at all and a lot of dumb behavior by almost all main people.

One to avoid!!

I concur. This movie is a waste of time for all actors and audience combined. It had one good hold up scene which lasted about 5 minutes.

Didn't care for this film either. Too much boring dialog and James Gandolfini's part should have been left completely out. Like Nagaidevel said, there was a hold up scene that was pretty good and one cool shoot out scene (I'm fascinated by slow motion shell ejections) but otherwise it was a sleeper.

Maybe it would have been better if Steve Buscemi had been in it.

Wow, so much hate.

I fucking loved it!

It's an urban western-noir film and if I didn't know better aped John Carpenter. The color palette is cold, dark, and dank, and it's always raining. It reminded me of Se7en. I didn't see the film until recently on home video, but if I had seen it in theaters it would most certainly have been in my top 10 best of list of 2012. So underrated.

It was one of the best shot movies of the year. I thought it meandered a bit here and there, but I liked that it took a lot of risks and wasn't your run-of-the-mill gangster flick. A LOT of subtext, much of it I'm sure I missed during my first viewing.

I felt the exact same way. I also felt James Gandolfini's part was pointless. It did have some nice shots in it and that one robbery scene was cool but man was it boring and pointless otherwise.

Jumping on the hate train here as well. The wife and I were so bored by this we walked out after about 45 minutes or so.
