Default 'Purple Rain' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of 'Purple Rain' on Blu-ray is up. While he calls this feature-packed release a solid "all-around package," unfortunately he says neither the video nor the audio offer the level of upgrade that one hopes for with a high-def catalog release of this caliber.

Correction, let's make that 2009.
Bought this one:

(Or was it 1 of the 5 that came bundled with the player?)

If this movie were reviewed today, would the PQ/AQ still be up there? Early Warner titles suffered (thinking of The Fugitive for one.)

The Fugitive was among a group of titles that had a very specific issue (deinterlacing artifacts as a result of stemming from a 1080i transfer). Purple Rain was not in that group. As far as I'm aware, it had a true 1080p transfer.

I don't own the Blu-ray and can't comment on whether or not the video quality holds up in other respects, but it's not in the same boat as The Fugitive.

Is it just me?

Everytime I hear "purple rain, purple rain," I think
the lyrics should be "pouring rain, pouring rain."
