Awesome news, although after watching it in HFR its always going to disappoint a little watching it regularly now, but I loved this movie so I'll still be okay, definitely picking this up

That Amazon link didn't work for long. They've pulled the preorder from the site.

It's such an ugly film. It looked okay @ 24fps but it's not a good looking flick. So many over lit sets and bad color temp choices.

Still, I'm kinda surprised they are releasing it this early. I was expecting August.

Any game that features paid loot boxes should be rated AO.

You're right. I thought it might have been me or my 3D glasses, but in talking to others it seems the color timing was considerably off.

In August we get the extended version in 2D & 3D - just kidding but it makes me reluctant to pop a dime (more like a couple of Jacksons) on this release, only to have the extended version come out later like was done with LTR.

So is the HFR a possibility for a Blu Ray release? Don't know anything of the technology, like would it take up more space and if it does, would that be too much for a blu disc?

@thejnc: 48 fps is not an option at this time. To do it you would need all new or updated equipment. That includes the TV, the BD player and even your AVR (HDMI connection). Unless I'm mistaken. None of that equipment exists for the home market at this time and it would take more than a few months to get it ready. 48 fps is a whole new ball game.

The movie was an hour too Long as it was. Waaaay too much filler. I don't know why anyone would want to wait for an extended edition. The hobbit should have been one movie - two max.
