Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

Saw this at the theater with the kids. The kids really enjoyed it, but I found the whole movie very meh.. If you don't have kids rent this one first. Pixar or top notch Dreamworks this movie is not...

sounds like a "Redbox it first" for me, though I am a big Genndy fan.

I rather liked this, I thought it was pretty cute. Though Johnny is a bit annoying half the time (in the sense that he seems a bit 'out of it' or something). Mavis is rather cute, even in bat form XD

The movie glosses over one important factor in their future though...Mavis is 118, and Johnny is 21 I assume (said he was 121. Clearly a case of them just lazily adding a 1 in front of their actual ages)....But yeah, Johnny's going to die of old age before Mavis even looks 30, probably much sooner even. Unless they 'turn' him, or there are ways of drastically increasing his lifespan (the witches maybe?), it's a bit of a sad fact. Hell, even if the could have a kid, that kid won't be considered full grown until some time after he dies.

Also, I am getting rather tired of this whole 'misunderstanding or lying because you need to protect them' trope in movies/TV. Everyone knows that's going to happen, and everyone also knows that it's going to be fixed, so it would be nice if more movies used that time instead for covering other things. It's way too common, especially (of course) in kid/teen movies.

BTW: The 3D Review of this film doesn't have an associated thread, just FYI.
