I really liked this movie. Best cinematic friendship of 2012.

I was actually really surprised by how much I liked it too. It's a solid little film. The first-person stuff is an unnecessary gimmick, but the content of the film is strong enough that it really doesn't detract from the film.

Very impressed. I was riveted; the time flew by. The 109 minutes
seemed like only an hour. An intense hour. It made me want to pop in
Training Day and rewatch that. It was actually a more "grounded"
Training Day. Less conspiracy stuff; less "King Kong aint got nothing on
me" stuff, it was about the grunts who worked on the ground.

Every time the scenes had cops moving room to room, house to house,
alleys to alleys; I'm a nervous wreck. The POV cameras really worked
well.

Jake Gyllenhaal was good as he always is. Michael Pena has a knack to
play these buddy, cop/military, young-father roles. I liked him in World
Trade Center, Lion for Lambs, even Battle Los Angeles. He has to be
careful with his future projects or he'll end up like
Spoiler
Sean Bean and someone will make a youtube compilation of all his death scenes.

Highly recommended.

It's probably because am not from the 'hood' but do Mexican gangsters really act like that? I mean, they just seemed like terrible caricatures. Was SMH whenever they were on screen.

Otherwise, quite enjoyed the movie. In particular I thought character development between the two cops was well done and gave that ending some substance. I also liked how the ending didn't drift too far off into 'Hollywood' territory and was kept grounded and believable enough.

Best buddy movie have seen in a while but just don't feel the need to watch it again any time soon. It was a good rental.
