Angry Best Buy Ignorance

So I went into Best Buy today to see if they had the Panasonic Blu-Ray player, and got into a heated debate about the format war with one of their incompetent employees. He was saying that everyone should stay away from Blu-Ray because Wal-Mart (competitor of theirs) doesn't support Blu-Ray, and to prove it to him i showed him their website on my iPhone where they offered it at a discount with 7 movies (2 in the box).

THEN he tried saying that the porn industry was a big factor, and I told him that some are going to release on both formats now.

He said that HD-DVD was better because they have Toshiba, and Blu- Ray has Sony. And I told him that Blu-Ray has various manufacturers and support exclusively from Sony, FOX, MGM, Disney, etc. But he insisted that HD-DVD had a lot of independent support.

After that he said he is ALMOST sold on Blu-Ray.....

Blu-Ray needs to do a better job of educating employees on how to sell their product. I have never gotten into a discussion about Blu-Ray with an store employee before, but if this is always the case then I'm worried. Sorry to vent, but I'm very frustrated.

you mean Best Buy and trust me, even if BB decided to offer training on the format war, that doesn't mean their employees are going to push BD harder than HD DVD.

Case in point, the many biased HD DVD supporters on this site that choose to ignore BD because its "Sony".

This is why I do all my purchasing online. I dont mind used copies as long as they work and are in good condition. Plus you save more.

EXACTLY... As a gamer I frequent the Xbox forums, and the general consensus chooses not to accept BD simply because it's Sony... He probably is one of those tools as well...

This is so funny. It was not that long ago that the HD-DVD folks were being told HD-DVD was not good by BB employees. My how the tables have turned. Now do not get me wrong, I have both. Therefore, am fine with both. But when I was HD-DVD only, BB was not HD-DVD friendly and honestly they still aren't.

I have 2 HD DVD players and about 29 movies now, and I wish I have a Sony Blu-ray player to see a ton of great movies. What is the big deal they are both good. The reason I went with HD DVD is because it was cheaper that's all. Im dying to get a BD player or a dual player to see movies like:

Hitch
Pirates 1 & 2
AVP
Ghost Rider
and the list is endless

Lucky for all of us 300 is dual format so we can all be excited and thankful to warner.
