I have all of the Golden Collection DVD sets...and still can't make myself want to buy these Platinum sets. What was up with a bunch of cartoons in the last set supposedly being SD? Isn't putting SD 'toons on a Blu set some kind of crazy? Was there some reasonable justification for it? Will it be repeated on Vol. 2?

Warner elected to put several in standard def on the last set, and there'll be some SD here too in Volume 2, apparently. The SD toons--lesser somehow, probably without suitable elements to properly remaster from--are treated as extras. They're bonuses. Included in addition to the other shorts.

Volume 1 included 50 shorts in HD, with 9 bonus cartoons, 8 of which were SD.
Volume 2 is set to include, once again, 50 shorts in HD, with a few more bonus cartoons in SD.

What irritates me more is how they switch from super ultimates editions to regular ones. I upgraded my DVD set in order to have the ultimates as nice collectibles, but it looks like that was folly.

Warner used to be the best studio in terms of quality and value for money, but lately they suck.

What do you mean by super ultimate editions?

Regular Blu version for volume one

vs

Super Duper version for volume one.

People may not like the second one as much, but I like that it's limited and numbered.

Oh, that thing. Yeah, I pass on those big editions beause they don't fit on my shelf properly and they are just too expensive.

Yeah, that was about what I got mine for.....and I still haven't watched all the shorts that are on it. It's sitting on my shelf, collecting dust, waiting to be watched as we speak. lol.
