Well i respectfully dissagree with this review . simply put, if we review all older movies like this , then nothing from the past would be worth anything. for example, watching the original nightmare on elm street in 2012, youd see all these cheesy effects and the script and acting would seem laughable, but that doesnt stop the fact that when it came out people loved it, and is still till this day considered a classic. sure hard to kill isnt a classic , but i do remember enjoyng it, and to me its a classic action movie from that time period, yes even kickboxer and blood sport!

It most definitely is a classic action from that time period. Seagal kicks royal ass and the revenge aspect is always good. Kelly Lebrock looked as hot as ever in it.

I think it's important to review all older movies in this way, because inevitably some people have never seen it. So, they would be relying on a current interpretation of an older movie, not one heavily clouded by nostalgia. I think the reviewer did a good job mixing his nostalgic feelings about the movie while pointing out how cheesy it is at the same time. Even his star rating shows that he's not being too hard on it, because I doubt you could argue this movie would merit 4-5 stars in comparison to other action/thrillers of the same time period that have held up much better with time and don't feel so cheesy or dated.

Hard to Kill was super cheesy even back in 1990. That didn't stop me from watching the hell out of it on VHS and HBO, of course.

This was always my personal favorite Seagal movie of the pre Under Seige batch. With Seagal you can watch the roller coaster of his career, his movies kept getting better and better, reaching the top with Under Seige, and flowing steadily downhill after that. The hospital escape sequence was the highlight I thought.
