Oddly enough, I didn't end up hating this one as much as I thought I would. For a Disney movie, it is pretty bad...but as an animated film, throwing the Disney moniker out the window, I'd say it's a fairly average animated movie.

Rosanne's voice was grating, but besides that I found a few things to like about it. The horse, the bounty hunter, and the main villain were all fun characters. I found the main villain's yodeling that put the cows into a trance, and launched the movie into what appeared to be an homage to Dumbo's pink elephants sequence, was mildly amusing.

I found the plot to be a bit lacking though, but at 1 hour and 20 minutes the movie goes by fast enough that I didn't mind it. At least it doesn't have time to drag out like Treasure Planet does.

In the end, I was surprised to find that I enjoyed this more than Treasure Planet when I watched them on release day. I'd give Home on the Range somewhere between a 2.5 and 3. It's still better than "Cars." Blah!

Sarah Jessica Parker was miscast. Should have voiced a horse.

So was the "warning" we received in a different thread warranted?

But wasn't Roseanne a big mouthed cow? you can only have one choice casting per film, Tom. accuracy wise it's a toss up.

How in the world did this movie cost as much as it did (+ $100 million). It doesn't show on the screen, that's for sure.

Yes, the Disney completist in me bought this. And yes, it's not great. However, the best thing about the movie isn't mentioned in the review - the songs. There are some genuinely catchy musical numbers and the musical theatre geek in me loves them.

Roseanne was enough nag for one movie.

While I disagree the movie is _that_ bad, it still ain't great.

So, no upgrade for me, my old DVD copy will fill the hole in my completionist catalogue.
