I HATED this film. It was nobvious "Oscar Bait" type of flick. It's a manipulative film.

It seems a large majority of critics that I trust have pretty much hated this film....so I am hesitant to even bother with. Especially how manipulative it seemed in the trailers.
I may end up renting it one day...if not, maybe on HBO or something (also, I'm just sick of asbergers being a plot point in movies)

I won't bother giving myself the opportunity to hate it.

I'm simply beside myself with this review. Well to each his own. Easily one of the worst films I saw in 2011.

I think they should probably take away one of Tom Hanks' oscars because of this turd.

I haven't seen it, but I anticipated some people would be up in arms as soon as I saw the 5 Star Movie Rating. :P

I have to disagree. I found the film to be extremely manipulative and the kid to be incredibly annoying. One of the worst protagonists I've ever come across on screen. It also felt very self-pretentious of itself and an obvious bait for the Oscar voters. Easily the worst of the BP nominees imo, but I'm glad some people enjoyed the film.

This movie is no more "Oscar Bait" than 'The Descendents', 'The Artist', 'Moneyball', 'War Horse', 'The Tree of Life' ect. I'll never understand this type of argument. ALL movie are manipulative. That's the point of movies. To manipulate your feelings. Every movie that comes out between the end of September to the end of December is "Oscar Bait" because they're the movies gunning for the Oscars.

This one was more apparent. That and the little turd who was the lead was a freakin' a-hole. I wish Bullock's character would have backhanded him a couple of times to teach him a lesson.

I also found the kid to be extremely annoying and disrespectful. The only positives were some decent supporting roles.
