I thought the original Happy Feet sucked and was one of my most regrettable HD DVD purchases despite the sound and video quality. It is not very shocking that the sequel would be horrible. How they got big name stars to lend their voices to this is beyond me.

Because the first one was a moderate critical and commercial success which earned an estimated $284M. Hollywood has to suck the marrow out of everything, though this one is definitely not guaranteed to break even.

When Happy Feet came out on Blu, I bought it and watched it with the wife. I literally fell asleep during it. Never had that happen before. Just found it boring. I certainly won't check out part 2....unless she forces me to buy it.

Luke forgot to mention whether he saw the first film and if so, what he thought of it. I'm guessing that means he simply didn't see it, but I'd still like to know. Me, I mildly enjoy the first movie, but the plot of this one does sound worse.

I would say patronzing hollywood pablum about global warming and humans destroying the world is already lazy and classless. But then again I despise Happy Feet 1 for this very reason.

Anyway, this looked turr-i-ble and now I can be sure I'm not missing anything.

This movie brought out my happy.

Perhaps it was a "momentary relief from the existential terrors of existence."
What did I type? Perhaps Iíll say it again simply as,
this movie brought out my happy.

Queen fans will enjoy turning up the volume on the filmís finale.
I say: Give LoveÖ Give LoveÖ Give LoveÖ One more chanceÖ
Ignore the haters of this film and give this movie one chance.

There are songs in many kid films or musicals that are there just to be
time fillers or plot points told in song. Then thereís songs where
the singing of that song is the plot. If you thought playing opera
music in the courtyard of Shawshank Redemption was stupid, or
canít swallow the psyche/mythic playing of music to tame the
dragonís soul, if that stuff doesnít work for you; then Happy Feet
wonít work for you.

I thought the new characters contributed well to the story:

1) The 2 krills do get praise from most reviewers, and they do deserve it.
Pitt and Damon worked great together again.
I was almost expecting Clooney to make a cameo.
"What possible difference could one krill make?"
"Wait and see, you wait and see."

2) The Sven character added to the theme of (false?) hope, with the
ďsupernaturalĒ power to fly and cult-like fanfare around him. He delivered
and multiplied fish from that mount, I mean, mountain of ice. Itís complex
and itís not at all a bashing of beliefs.

3) Bryan, the elephant seal had 2 great scenes: Mumble initial encounter
and his follow up with him. Oh, I want to rewatch these scenes;
I canít say more to not spoil it. Let me add the latter scene will be part of
my repeat viewings to have my surround speakers and subwoofer feed me
some ear candy.

Obviously I disagree with Hickmanís review.
He writes that he wants to keep this film out of his house, and away from his kids.
A little too harsh in my opinion.
Crack, hopelessness, having the morals of reality TV characters,
thatís what I want to keep away from my kids.
Mumble has to steer his son Eric with fatherly advice about self worth,
about false ideals, about what one penguin can do.
Krill seeking the road not taken, adapting to the changing world,
questioning oneís station in life or place in the food chain.
I hope my kids learn about these things.
They certainly enjoyed the film and jumped off the couch a few times
to do some dance numbers with the penguins.

The film also brought out the happy for my kids, too.

Timcharger, is it really necessary to phrase your response as a poem?

Eastx, thank you, I think?

Accused of being poetic is still a good thing, I hope.

Usually on forums, some criticisms are:
was that f-bomb necessary?
was that personal attack necessary?

Taking your question seriously, I'll answer you.
I type <returns/enters> periodically to space out my lines,
because I personally don't like reading 80+ characters
in one line of text. Prose paragraphs visually are harder
to read for my eyes.
