Default 'The Way' - High-Def Digest Review

Luke has reviewed the Blu-ray release of one of his favorite films from 2011. If you haven't seen 'The Way,' do yourself a favor and check it out.

Thumbs up

Great review....LOVE road movies, and this one really resonated with well fleshed-out characters, solid chemistry & affecting performances. I agree that it was unfortunate that Estevez chose to use 16mm stock, especially in light of the inspiring locations. Still, a rich viewing experience that will certainly stand up to repeat engagements. Btw, did anyone else recognize Tcheky Karyo, who played the Police Captain in the beginning of the film (?). I've always remembered him for his effective & understated performance as 'Bob' in Luc Besson's 'Nikita' (1988).

Thanks!

They make reference to his casting in the commentary, talking about how lucky they were to get him onboard.

I picked up this title based upon the review once I found it at an attractive price. We watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for steering us towards this excellent film & blu-ray offering.

This title was on sale? It's rarely found in any store. And Amazon seems to
mostly just price match other sales these days. Where and how much? I'm pretty
sure the sale is over anyway.

It's embarassing, but I do dumpster dive into that bin. When Walmart employees
give you a weird look, you've hit blu-ray bottom.

Online it's $15.

Basically, the choices are:
$7.88, find it yourself in this clearance haystack
$15, we will find it for you

What kind of business model is that?

That's exactly how it is. The wife has never seen Blazing Saddles, so I want to pick it up. Best Buy doesn't have it in my local stores, but I know that if I go digging through the garbage bin I might be able to find one. So annoying.

I feel like that kid searching for a marble through the kiddie pool of outmeal in 'UHF.' I wanna drink from the firehose!
