That's Right the contract ended on 2.29.12 so now is just waiting to see when it will hit stores.

in other words...will it end up being a Best Buy exclusive? Will there be a traditional 3-6 week pre-order period? will existing owners scramble to sell theirs for 70 bucks in hopes of making more than 30 for the damn thing for hte last time?

Good news for 3D owners who didn't get suckered in. hopefully fox realizes this and pushes it out fast.

I can see Avatar 3D getting a release in the fall, imo. I read an unconfirmed rumor that Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 3D was going to be a Panasonic exclusive. Hope this is false.

I don't know when we'll get the Extended Cut on Blu-ray, but it will happen eventually. Cameron has confirmed that all of the new CGI for the extra scenes was rendered in 3D, in order to future-proof it for possible re-releases down the line.

I venture to guess that 94% of people who have a 3D TV do care.

Honestly, on this particular title (and the 2 that follow it) don't really care. And probably won't care when the originals get released on 3D too. I'll just stick with the regular blu rays for those. But I will buy Avatar when it finally releases. And then, only if the director's cut.

if star wars goes exclusive, then fuck it, i'm going to tirade to end all tirades. i'd fling so much shit in all directions that california would look like a butt-mud slide. i don't care that i have panasonic gear, i don't need another fucking starter kit.

I'd venture to guess that most of the people with 3D televisions that REALLY cared about avatar bought a Panasonic television. as it is it's a film that's turning three years old this year. the hype has died down to the point that they've probably lost the lions share of potential 3D blu-ray sales that they could have gotten if the title wasn't exclusive in the first place

it went from a title that would be a factor in driving the adoption of 3D televisions to something that people might pick up at some point down the road whenever they get around to it
