Default 'Memoirs of a Geisha' -- pre-release buzz

Sony has announced 'Memoirs of a Geisha' for Blu-ray release on September 25:

Pretty slim package. The usual 1080p video and PCM 5.1 audio, and only an audio commentary as a bonus.

Probably a pass. Still...I will see what all my other fellow hi def followers have to say about it. Prelude, Spideybat, Nelll, BostonMA, and others have changed my mind before about other movies. We shall see.

Really good movie, but the SD looks good enough upconverted.

I'd say good already, not good enough. I'm sure the BD release will be a pleasingly noticable and beautiful improvement showing off all the beautiful intracacies and details of the Academy Award winning cinematography.

P.S. I'm expecting a score of at least 4.5/5 stars from this site on this title for PQ. The audio was amazing as well having been mixed by the legendary Kevin O'Connel (just give the man a damn Oscar already; he may have another chance with Transformers this year) and a score by John Williams you can't go wrong. Maybe 5/5 for audio on this one?

A wonderful movie.... and a dead-ugly cover-design. Glad I went with the Italian Blu-ray which comes with a much nicer design. The Italian BD is just 1080i but looks fabulous. Compared it to the upconverted SD release and it was a HUGE improvement. Definitely a film that should only be watched in HD.

Finally, must be a feast for eyes on BD.
Loved the book, love the movie. Will be ordering this one.

It's a great movie. I can't wait to see how it looks in HD.

But, I'll have to buy a Blue-ray player to see it.
