Default 'Final Destination 5' - High-Def Digest Review

Luke has reviewed 'Final Destination 5.' He's admits it, he's a fan of this series, and he says this is the best the series has been since the original 2000 film. This Blu-ray set features near-perfect picture, flawless audio track, but unimpressive extras. Still, based on the quality presentation and the movie itself, this is recommended.

I recently heard someone (another big fan of the series) talking about how great these movies are if looking at them as a comedy and it's made me want to go back and watch them all.

Well, I personally feel the series reached it's peak with the second film. Easily the most creative of the bunch.

I don't know if I have it in me to see this as 4 was downright awful.

I thought it was better than 4, but that isn't saying much.

In order of enjoyment for me: 1, 3, 5, 2, 4. Someone should stick a fork in this series though because it's feels very done.

How can you rate 2 so lowly? That doesn't make sense to me. It's the best. Easily.

1 and 2 were pretty fun, 3 was decent (probably because only because it starred Mary Elizabeth Winstead), but 4 was crap. 5 is pretty creative and fun though.

I look at most horror movies and comedies. I laugh through nearly all of them. I can honestly say that I haven't been scared by a horror movie since 'It.' I went to bed after part one completely terrified, but the lameness of part two killed that feeling entirely.

'It' had a sequel?

I think films can still be really scary when approaching elements that truly get you nervous. One of the best scenes of terror in a modern film came from Zodiac. The scene in which Mr. Jake was in the basement with Roger Rabbit. Truly tense. I really felt uncomfortable to whole time.

Now, these slasherfest or teen death toll films are about the laughs.

How? It had the best mass death scene, and it had the imaginative kills. That's what the series is about.
