Default 'Another Earth' - High-Def Digest Review

Our review of 'Another Earth' has just been posted. E says this independent film is a surprisingly engaging piece on redemption and loss. The Blu-ray features average video, a good audio track, and all-too brief extras, but based on the film alone, this is recommended.

Sounds like movie like this is best watched without thinking about the scientific explaination. If both Earth twins mirror the events, what happens if people from one Earth meets the other Earth? Still a curious movie.

It sounds like a remake of Journey To The Dark Side Of the Sun.

^^ Actually, the similarities in plot devices are uncannily similar though I doubt Cahill (the director of this movie) would have ever seen 'Far Side of the Sun.' The difference between the two is the 60s flick places more emphasis on the science fiction and mystery whereas 'Another Earth' really focuses on the drama. As Vortex mentions, best watched without thinking on the lack of scientific explanation.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

This is actually a very big part of the plot.

Great movie. I saw it at Sundance and really, really liked it.

I picked this movie up after seeing it on the new release section and reading the back cover. At first, the cinematics made it seem a little too indie/low budget, but as time went on, I did get into the movie. Although I was disappointed that this was very vaguely a sci-fi movie, it was still OK. This movie could very possibly start a debate on whether a movie can really be called science fiction if it has no special effects.

Unquestionably yes, IMHO.

Trailer was misleading. This movie is like 98% crappy drama, 2% science fiction.
