Default Disc-By-Mail Services May Face Delay Thanks to New USPS Plan

The postal service may be eliminating next-day mail. If this goes through, it may spell doom for disc by mail services.

Seriously, anyone want to wait three days for their disc to get back to Netflix and then another three for your new one to arrive? That's not just slow, that's Gamefly slow.

Might as well, they actually already have. Last three times I paid for overnight, they took that to mean three days minimum.

I feel bad for the USPS - not allowed to be profitable, not allowed to lose money. Ultimate no-win situation.

Anyway, the solution is for Netflix to give me the same amount of content at the same price, i.e. move the 1 disc per time raet to include two discs. Otherwise I'll potentially be watching half as many movies as I was before for the same old price.

Shouldn't cost Netflix anymoer as there postage costs should be the same under the change.

I suspect that most Netflix customers don't watch movies fast enough to really care that much about a delivery slowdown. I think the people who are fervent about turning movies around as fast as they can in order to maximize their Netflix dollar are probably a small, hardcore minority.

Only the Federal Government would think like this. USPS doing bad, let's make people want to use the service LESS. NetFlix and USPS, common bed fellows it would seem.

Well, there is a difference between waiting 2 or more additional days on each cycle and making sure to watch a movie the night it arrives.

Where you shipping from? Hawaii? If first-class takes 2-3 days for me, why would overnight be a minimum of 3 days for you?

Pretty much. I hate the USPS. So, I welcome downsizing. It just means we are getting closer to it being shut down.
