Default 'Steve Winwood: Live' - High-Def Digest Review

Steven Cohen has reviewed 'Steve Winwood: Live.' He says this offers a "faintly enjoyable performance from the musician." Video is average. Audio is quite good. There are some bonus tracks to round out the set. For fans only.

I did't look at the blu-ray, but it's a shame that this GREAT musician (founder of the group Traffic in the end of the 60 ' years) have released a 55 minutes show. I think Steve has a lot more to show.

Agree, Steve Winwood is an incredible artist, musician and performer. It's therefore a shame that we are given (again) the bastardized version of the original performance. And on a BD-25, no less. The original set list contained 19 songs and 2-1/2 hours of amazing music. Fantastic songs like "Valerie", "Gimme' Some Lovin'", "Higher Love", and "Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring". Where are those songs? Sadly, not on this release.

With this Blu-ray release, the studio had an opportunity to make right the poor decision-making on the original DVD release. Back then in 20005, the DVD was released with only 8 songs and 3 bonus songs. Sound familiar? And yet, here we are in 2011, 6 six years later, with the same truncated concert.

Had the studio put the entire concert on this release (a BD-50 would have offered plenty of capacity), I would have gladly put my money down. Instead, I'll continue waiting...or look for a bootleg. That's the message studios send when they give artists and their fans the short shrift.

Maybe the rest of the show was erased or there might've been problems with the tape that precluded them from doing the rest of the show.
