Default Newly dual format and looking for some help!

I just jumped on the PS3 offer and am new to the dual format crowd. I am looking for some BD exclusive movies to buy that are going to be awesome in PQ and AQ. Personal opinions are cool, since really a review is nothing more than that. I got about 40 HD DVD's and now it is time to start spilling into the BD arena! Thanks for any recommendations.

If PQ is what your looking for, these might interest you:
Primeval
Apocalypto
Pirates 1 and 2
Chicken Little
Bridge To Terabithia
Invincible
Ghost Rider

and many more! Buena Vista provides the best transfers imo. Sony's Ghost Rider looked good too.

Well I know everyone else is going to recommend Casino Royale and Pirates, so I will go against the stream and say..

Layer Cake and Devils Rejects, because they both have good audio/video quality, and are also good movies . Then if you just want an eyecandy movie, then "Into the Blue" would be good, the movie itself has about as good story as your average Macgyver episode. But what makes it good is the nice looking locations and Alba swimming aroud in skimpy outfits

Thanks for the help everyone. I was thinking about Hellboy, Tha Patriot, and Black Hawk Down for a first round purchase at Best Buy with their sale this week. I already own POTC on SD so I am looking to expand my collection prior to rebuys. However, good to hear Into the Blue looks good since Jessica Alba is in it. I was also going to get Devils Rejects with my mail in order. Again you guys rock here in this forum!

Default AQ

If you're newly dual-format, you will notice that the picture quality is identical.

For the best AQ, go with any movie that has an Uncompressed 5.1 soundtrack. Usually any Columbia (Sony) or Warner. Paramount normally only does Dolby Digital (640k), which is better than DVD, but not as good as uncompressed.

This is assuming of course you don't have a receiver that does DolbyTrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio. If you choose either of these audio tracks, it will be down-converted to "Higher" end Dolby Digital or DTS, in which case, choose DTS.

Use the Pre-Outs on the back of your BD player to go to the Pre-Ins on the back of your receiver (usually takes 6 RCA cables for 5.1). I have found that this direct connection PCM sound is better than HDMI's PCM (But that is an entirely different argument.)

I have noticed the PQ of the BD I have watched is similar and the AQ is similar. I mainly went dual format to expand my movie collection in Hi Def. I have the Onkyo 605 and absolutely love it. My system was in need of an update and between the new tv, two new Hi Def players, and the 605, I have done a complete overhaul. Been a good year thus far!
