So the (SD) documentary gets lossless audio while the main feature gets lossy DTS? That's rad. Nice to know what Universal's authoring priorities are.

Effing christ. They really are the nadir of blu-ray.

Of all the blu-rays, Universal has previously released that included great DTS-HD 5.1 MA soundtracks, they have chosen to release The Blues Brothers (a highly musical, action/comedy,) with only standard DTS audio. The Blues Brothers, could have benefited significantly with a lossless soundtrack, considering its genre. What the hell was Universal thinking? They're going to receive a lot of complaints about this, and I'll be the first!

No matter how good the DTS soundtrack sounds, it is absolutely inexcusable for Universal to have the main feature in a lossy audio on a Blu-ray movie in this day & age. And on "The Blues Brothers" of all things...WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING?!?!

i haven't looked but maybe in order to keep all the music intact, an agreement said it couldn't be lossless? just spitballing.

This is amazing that in 2011 we're talking about not enough space on a Blu-ray disc for both
High Def Picture and High Res Audio!

Beats me!

* I luv this flick big time, but I don't feel to encourage Universal in their pursuit of unexcellence!
They are going down! It is very sad, and not encouraging at all for the future!

Do Universal have any 3D Blu-ray(s)?

i don't think that would matter, really. if the music is intact, and the DTS is as good as mr Cohen says, then the anger won't be as bad as it could have been, but dammit, i likes my lossless!

Not enough space? It's just laziness.

If New Line Cinema were able to fully accommodate DTS-HD 6.1 MA soundtracks for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (theatrical versions) in blu-ray, so can The Blues Brothers at 2 1/2 hours from Universal.
