I really wanted to pick this up, but putting the same ol' transfer in some spiffy new packaging just isn't enough. There's a restored version currently being shown in some film festivals with supposedly great pq. Hopefully that version finds its way to blu somewhere down the road for the inevitable xx anniversary double-dip.

If it wasn't for this review I would have been a dopey double dipper! What a shame for such an awesome flick.

I completely disagree with this review. First off, the video is by far better than a 2. It isn't a 5, but it is no lower than a 4. Secondly, the audio is definitely an improvement. Finally, the digibook alone is the reason to get this release.

the festival print, i cannot comment on, having not seen it, but i have been dying for a massive upgrade on this film for some time. i'm tempted to buy the german or other european blu-rays just for the amazing artwork (the door, eye cog, mask, and hal) for the big kubrick titles that have been out for some time. the lolita double and FMJ triple leave me to believe a clockwork triple will happen sometime in late 2012 or early 2013.

my screen shows a 2.5, not a 2, therefore the comment about being better than a 2, the system heard your complaint and complied!

Who would want to replace LPCM with dts HD MA. Only one of my machines plays that audio. I've still got the original release on Blu-ray. Still sealed. Actually had it before but accidently sold it.
