If you make great shows with high rewatch value and dvd/blu ray extras people will buy them .If you make mediocre films with few extras and no rewatch value people won't buy them on disc.
I think this is basically a golden age in television and a lead age in film .

high quality content that viewers want to see, presented in fantastic quality sets.

instead of just dumping shit, they do a damn good, thorough job. for once, quality beats quantity.

Quality content on a quality (minimal compression) product. Who knew people actually still wanted QUALITY over garbage convenience!

Would you not rather have explosions instead?

They need to be quicker about getting their shows to BD and DVD, Boardwalk Empire still doesn't have a release date and it finished months ago.

I'm surprised they haven't done any catalogue BD releases yet, you would think Sopranos and Sex And The City would have big enough fanbases to warrant blu releases. A decent upscale job with uncompressed audio on The Wire would also be a pretty low overheads port and likely do very well.

They need to go back and do some of their older movies on Blu. I'd love to get And The Band Played On and some others.

61 may be the test title, to see how well their original films may sell when put at a low price. if people buy it, other titles like TBPO may happen.

Sopranos i doubt will happen for a while, as i don't think season 1 made good sales, at all. they should just put the whole series out, a la deadwood, rome, or the friends rumor from WB. THAT will sell.
