Default The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974)

Did anyone else pick it up from Best Buy? I just watched earlier tonight and was quite impress with the PQ but the AQ was quite flat though. Probably because of the source material, the sound was in DTS-HD MA Mono. I wish they included more special features than just a trailer. This version is way superior than the crappy 2009 remake.

Yea. Great movie. Agree with you about the PQ and AQ.
Haven't seen the remake (and have no desire to do so) so can't comment on that.

This has really gone under the radar. Hope it gets covered somewhere.

i bought it, greenman, may get to review it.

it went under the radar since it wasn't pictured in the ad, and stores are stocking 1 to 2 copies. not much, at all, even at the bargain price which is sure to attract buyers. weird shit.

Yeah, I was lucky to snag a copy of this. Interesting how good this movie is when the director gives the movie the time it needs to make me care about the characters/plot; unlike the re-make where Tony Scott is only interested in making sure everything looks shades of orange/aqua with a hyperkinetic camera.

I've been on vacation the past week so I just found about this release today in the Smackdown section. This is one of my alltime favorites. It's so bad-a** it was remade twice.

I reviewed the remake, but I've actually never seen this. Probably won't for a while, either, since CANADA doesn't have them and the postal workers in CANADA might be going on strike. Yay for CANADA.

100% agree about the remake, I can't stand it. I like John Travolta but his take on the villain in the remake was just whiny and very annoying, I lost count of how many times he said the word motherfucker. Robert Shaw on the hand, he was calm and very menacing.

You have to see the original Landy, I don't remember if you like the remake or not but the original was so smart and Robert Shaw as just awesome as the main villain.
