Default The Bible: In the Beginning on Blu-ray is a amazing classic film

The 1966 Bible in the Beginning movie is one of my favorite movies. Since this movie is based on the historical Old Testament Genesis record, both Jewish families and Christian families will most likely enjoy this movie. The Bible in the Beginning does have a few scriptural errors, but overall on the key points it is very accurate to the historical Genesis record.

I was amazed at the picture and sound quality of the Bible in the Beginning. Most likely the film negative for the Bible movie received a minimum of a 4K scan like the Robe before being down converted to 1080P Blu-ray. The 5.1 DTS HD Master audio track is bit for bit the same as the studio master. The picture and sound quality of this Blu-ray is amazing. The new restoration almost looks like a modern film. The Garden of Eden, worldwide flood, and Sodom & Gomorrah scenes were interesting to watch. On a 60 inch Pioneer Kuro with excellent ANSI contrast depth the Garden of Eden scenes in the movie showed more details than I have ever seen before. The entire movie was a new experience watching it on Blu-ray.

Anyone that enjoys classic 60’s movies or Biblically based movies will most likely enjoy The Bible in the Beginning.
The Bible in the Beginning Blu-ray is on sale currently for $18.99.

I am hoping 20th Century Fox will release the 1963 Sodom and Gomorrah movie on Blu-ray

I have the 20th Century Fox Sodom and Gomorrah on Widescreen 480i Laserdisc. The 1963 Sodom and Gomorrah movie has not been released yet on DVD or Blu-ray. Hopefully 20th Century Fox will do a 4K-8K restoration on Sodom and Gomorrah film and release it for the first time on Blu-ray.

You do not need to be a believer in any religion to be entertained by the mythos of the Torah that this movie depicts.

Yes I agree this Bible movie is for anyone regardless of their religious belief system. Since it is based on the book of Genesis its target audience is Jewish and Christian families. Even an atheist might enjoy the movie.

I am hoping that one day in the future we would someday see a 20th Century Fox release of the Sodom and Gomorrah movie on Blu-ray and/or DVD for the United States market.

Thank you very much for the link. I did not realize that Sodom and Gomorrah movie was released as an import DVD. Amazon lists the DVD import as “All Regions NTSC” and “Full Screen 1.33:1”. Someone made a comment that the movie is really letterboxed like you said. I own the movie on Laserdisc in Widescreen (letterboxed). The Laserdisc release from 20th Century Fox might be better quality than this import DVD, I would need to purchase the DVD to know for sure. Perhaps the import DVD uses the same widescreen letterboxed studio source as the Laserdisc edition. If the bit rate encode is high and placed on a dual layer disc than maybe the DVD is better quality.

What is confusing is that some of the import DVD’s call the movie “The Last Days of Sodom & Gomorrah” whereas the official 20th Century Fox Laserdisc title calls the movie “Sodom and Gomorrah”.

According to Wikipedia the Sodom and Gomorrah movie was released in foreign markets like Italy in 1962. Than later the movie was released in the United States theaters in 1963. That explains why the import DVD’s list the movie as 1962 compared to the US VHS and Laserdisc versions will list the film as being made in 1963.
