Here's a post wahoo!

This is great, hopefully the transfer is up to snuff, but with Paramount you never know. I expect either great things or horror with this disc.

Great news! This year is shaping up like a great year for me but an even better one for my girlfriend! All her favorite films are starting to be released. First it was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, then Amelie and now Breakfast at Tiffany. A truly great year for both of us. I also find surprising not many members comment in this kind of titles, puzzling really. In another note, can't wait to pick up a copy of Diabolique and Solaris.

Beautiful film. My wife and I love this one.

There is nothing quite like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Moon River, brilliant.

Doubt it. 99.99999999999% chance the blu-ray has the exact same set of extras as the latest DVD release:
  • Audio commentary with producer Richard Shepherd
  • "A Golightly Gathering" featurette (20:25)
  • "Henry Mancini: More Than Music" featurette (20:56)
  • "Mr. Yunioshi: An Asian Perspective" featurette (17:29)
  • "The Making of a Classic" featurette (16:12)
  • "It's So Audrey: A Style Icon" featurette (8:14)
  • "Behind the Gates: The Tour" featurette (4:33)
  • "Brilliance in a Blue Box" featurette (6:03)
  • "Audrey's Letter to Tiffany" featurette (2:29)
  • Photo Galleries:
    • Production (29 stills)
    • The Movie (26 stills)
    • Publicity (22 stills)
  • Theatrical Trailer (2:37)

@arkadin and other lovers of classic films: Here's how I see it:

What so many have failed to understand is that classics don't sell well on BD. The conclusion I'm reaching is that BD will never be the resource for classic films that DVD was. The way I think of it, DVD looked back and drew upon on 100+ years of film history. Just about every film of note made it to DVD. While not as good in quality as BD, it was/is good enough for most movies and most collectors. Most lovers of classic films already have a DVD copy of the films they want to own. BD on the other hand looks forward. Its future lies in people buying new/current releases, 3D, sci-fi/special effects extravaganzas, CGI animation. That's where BD shines. I believe that while each studio will be willing to spend the time, money and find the expertise to transfer their marquee films to BD at the rate of just a handful per year mainly for PR/prestige reasons, they will never be willing to convert all their films to BD. The financial returns just aren't there.

The other factor that has to be taken into account is the fact that the classic film buffs are disappearing. Most are older and unfortunately are beginning to die off. The main buyer of discs today is young with a high disposable income. I'm stunned by contributors to this and other forums who tell us that they are buying 4 or 5 movies a week. These young buyers have little interest in or knowledge of the past of the cinema. In fact many seem to think that a film made before the 1990's is old (!). Older films? They're too slow, plot & character driven and don't have either the visual or auditory punch they want in their movies. A classic film to them just isn't an interesting buy or worth commenting on.

That is my reluctant view. As I think you can guess, I'm personally one of the dwindling breed.

^^^
This pretty much sums it up.

Classic films just don't have the eye/ear candy (except for Audrey ) that modern day films do. Flash is what sells to the mass audience. Thanks to TMC, we can at least see some of these in HD.
