Default Five catalog Blu-ray digibook double dips coming in May

'Master and Commander,' 'Patton,' 'Rocky,' 'The Terminator,' and 'The Usual Suspects' are coming May 10. Probably just repackages.

Hey, Fox! If that Patton re-release is remastered, I'll give you $50 for it.

If it isn't, I'll give you $0 for it.

So, how do you like it? One digit or two?

If all of them are remasters, I'd probably get most of them. If not, I may just get Terminator since I've been meaning one to pick that one up sometime anyway.

we call these type releases "reverse digibooks".
btw: patton and M&C are Fox, not mgm.

The Lowry Digital guy has been talking about a Terminator remaster since before the skynet edition of T2 came out. I suppose it's too much to hope that this is it.

Pretty doubtful. That Terminator remaster was put on hold a while back due to MGM's financial crisis. I'm fairly certain that these are just repackagings of the existing discs.

I'd kind of like to have Master and Commander in that digibook with the DVD artwork, but I have a hard time justifying a repurchase just for that.

The Usual Suspects might (key word) not be a repackage. I wouldn't be surprised if the studio saw fit to include the fairly substantial materials they already produced for the DVD special edition, and didn't include, and switch to putting the disc on a BD-50 instead of a BD-25 (which is what it is now). And if they're at it, to add a BD-Live portal with no content.

Of course, if they include the special features, they'll likely be in standard-def. But it would be nice for fans of the movie to not need to hold on to the DVD special edition.

And agreed on the Terminator - very much hoping it's the remaster, but not holding my breath.

How many more times are they gonna keep recycling the same mediocre transfers in different packaging?

No Double Dipping for me. I already have Rocky & Terminator on Blu and I am content.
