Default 'Alice in Wonderland: 60th Anniversary Edition' - High-Def Digest Review

Our review of 'Alice in Wonderland: 60th Anniversary Edition' has just been posted. This remains one of the most impressive adaptations. This Blu-ray is exceptional, with fantastic video and audio and mountains of extras. Highly recommended!

Yeah, this is probably the best 2D animated image I've seen thus far on BD.

*EDIT*

Image wise - I think Sleeping Beauty will be hard to top for me. I just love the art style in that movie.

Really jsut wanted to comment on what was not said about the disc:

Disney excels at their use of BD Java IMHO and again have outdone themeselves here. Yes, the movie opens with (what seems like) 4000 trailers but they have added a mini menu at the bottom of the screen that give you a couple clever options.

They are:

*X (close the menu)
*Skip (skip that preview)
*Menu (go to the main menu)
*Play (play the movie without hitting the menu screen)

Sure Skip and Menu don't really need to be there but the play option is just soooo handy. I just really wanted to bring this up as Disney has done it again with their menu system.

Clarity is better.

Art style is a different beast, and different conversation.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

I'll have to spend some time comparing the two.

I find it very odd that the package lists the AR as 1.33:1 fullscreen. 1.33:1 isn't fullscreen, especially when it is encoded with pillarbox bars in the image. Fullframe yes, but how in the hell is it fullscreen on a bd?

There's a lot of focus issues with Sleeping Beauty. I don't know if it's DNR, or just softness inherent within the original source. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney film and I think it looks absolutely fantastic, regardless of the "color corrections." I just think Alice has better clarity.
