According to the December 21 announcement regarding Peter Pan (2003):

On the same date, the studio will also release 'Peter Pan (2003)' starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman.
???????????????
Dustin Hoffman played the part of Captain Hook in the Steven Spielberg 1991 production of the movie "HOOK", but to my knowledge is not in "Peter Pan (2003), nor is Tom Cruise.

I have been waiting for a(n affordable blu-ray) release of Peter Pan for some time now. It's been some time since I saw it last, but I always really enjoyed it. I wish the MSRP were lower, but I'm glad it's coming out.

It's the version of Peter Pan where Cruise plays Pan while Hook (Hoffman) is a skittish pirate, controlled by his extremely orderly and mathematically-inclined crew, whom Pan is always trying to take up in the air (even though Hook is afraid of flying) and generally antagonize. Hook finally decides to watch his television programs, and Pan realizes the two have more in common when he learns they are blood-related--in fact, the boy who never grew up grows when he learns to love someone other than himself. It also starred Joan Cusack as a robotic Tinkerbell, Robert DeNiro as the snarling Mr. Smee (who is the actual brains behind Hook's misdeeds, and who eventually

kills Hook to make sure he never joins Pan
), Kim Basinger as the seductive Wendy and Alan Cox as John.

It was one of the weirder/better adaptations.
