Default 'Salt' - High-Def Digest Review

David Krauss has reviewed 'Salt.' Despite the palpable presence of Angelina Jolie, he says this movie is fairly bland. This Blu-ray features surprisingly underwhelming video, better audio, and tons of extras. Give it a rent.

bland, I take it? Angelina herself is not a sure-shot way to overcome blandness (just see her role alongside Denzel in Bone Collector, and there are more examples).

Wow, and I was hope that it was at least as good as No Way Out with Kevin Costner.

I'd agree that this was a disappointing film. It's one we've seen a million times before (silly Russian double-spy nonsense) and the "twist" is signalled right from the very beginning. Very little plot, rather ridiculous backstory etc.

I am surprised at the poor "Picture quality" review rating though. I thought the picture quality was as good as any other title I've recently purchased, if you ignore the likes of reference material like "Avatar" where nothing much could compete anyway.

I saw this in theaters and it was a lot of fun. I'll be getting the steelbook, too.

I'm going to rent this and find out-- you could be right. However, the "it's just a popcorn movie" argument is very tired and overused-- I've seen someone say that in every bad movie I've ever heard of. That and they say, "This isn't trying to be Citizen Kane." Like that's a criteria? Just because it is a "popcorn" movie doesn't mean there aren't standards of good and bad, or in this case, mediocre. You might as well say "If you lower your standards to rock bottom, you'll enjoy all the purty cars and explosions!"

Sorry, I don't mean to criticize your defense of the film or target you for this little rant I've just seen that "popcorn" defense so many times now I felt compelled to say something about it.
