Default 'The Town' - High-Def Digest Review

Our review of 'The Town' has just been posted. Drew says he liked parts of this film, but wasn't as wild about it as so many others were. This Blu-ray has some interesting video elements, good audio, and great HD exclusive extras. Overall, this is recommended.

The sequences have the kind of sharpness that Michael Mann, who is given a shout-out in the film, used to specialize in (before he gave up on trivial concerns like spatial geography and being able to see stuff).
completely disagree there Drew. Mann still has great talent in his directing.

Day one purchase. Absolutely loved this movie. Not as thought-provoking as Gone Baby Gone, but equally entertaining for me.

OVERRATED
I'm glad someone finally gave this review an HONEST opinion. Being from Boston I was sick of people telling me it was so good, with their bias. Ben Affleck can shove it too.

Sure will be nice when Warner figures out how to do seamless branching, and use that instead of specializing on squeezing has much 1080p content into the smallest possible file size.

This movie was good. Not perfect, but good and probably better than the review indicates. I mean, how many movies come out in a year now within the genre and the action genre in general that aren't pretty much total disappointments? Not many. I think if you didn't know about the hype or much else about it and saw it with low expecatations (like me) - then you probably enjoyed it more.

LOL, what did Affleck ever do to you? Well, other than Gigli and Pearl Harbor. I always wondered how people from Boston perceived his movies. To be honest, you're the first person I know from there that didn't think it was that good. Boston seems to be the new "it" place for film locations. It looks like "The Fighter" takes place there too based on Wahlberg's accent in the trailer.
