Default 'Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 (2-Movie Collection)' - High-Def Digest Review

Aaron Peck has reviewed the 'Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 (2-Movie Collection)' He says these are classic films, and this Disney Blu-ray does them proud with fantastic video, audio, and extras (but expect buffering on the HD exclusives that can only be accessed with an
internet connection). A must read review for a must own Blu-ray release.

At Target, using my 10-buck coupon and my Target Visa for an additional 5% off, I paid just over $20.00 for the set, which is absolutely superb!!

A Fantasia lover since childhood-- I first saw it in the early 50s as a boy-- I was so thrilled with each video release. I still have the superb CAV laserdisc of the first movie. The subsequent three-disc box set ("The Fantasia Anthology") with the two films AND the fascinating historical extras, was also superb. This new release blows it all away!! The films are just astounding in picture and sound quality.
The ONLY carp I have is the relegation of the material on the "Fantasia Legacy" dvd disc to the internet. Wrong move, Disney! I'll be keeping my "Fantasia Legacy" disc from the set.
Otherwise, no complaints!!! This set is "Fantas-tic"!!!

Had a gift card and decided to pick this up with the $10.00 off. Glad I did. Great review Aaron!

So what's this about the original Fantasia and its 15 seconds of racism that's been removed/altered, or whatever? Some people want to keep it in for history's sake, others think it was in horrid taste and had no real contribution to the overall work so it should stay hidden.

you're referring to these two scenes:

Spoiler

To some extent, I might agree with you for the sake of history. But I can't completely agree that it should be preserved for home video release. As modern audiences, we don't need to see that, but we can definitely remember it and discuss about it.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

Remember a time when Han shot first?

It's all or nothing. Either it's okay, or it's not. Regardless of the changes...you either agree with revisionism or you don't. If you don't, then any form is looked down upon.

Modern Audiences also don't watch films like this. Fantasia isn't some film parents put on for their kids. It doesn't have the stimulation of modern films. Its for the older set. Secondly, kids wouldn't even know that the scene they are watching is "wrong."

Fantasia is primed for a Treasure release. A selection of features that sits down and discusses the context. It's a different film from the rest of their canon. It deserves to be preserved.
