Default 3/22: Awakenings, Random Hearts, Against All Odds

Will be picking up Awakenings.
Random Hearts might be the worst Harrison Ford movie ever.

I can't watch Awakenings, too painful but everyone must watch that before they die.

That's the biggest catalog wave from Sony in a long while.

Then I shall not watch it, thus staving off death!

Awakenings is the feel-bad movie of the year.

Spoiler
It really knows how to give the audience hope... and then completely crush it.

I absolutely love Random Hearts, and have been patiently waiting that to hit on BD ever since the format began and there were lots of odd releases of not-so-blockbuster drama titles.

And yes, when I first saw it in the theater, I thought it was dreadful. It didn't help that they promoted it like some sort of action/adventure flick with him being a cop in the story. Fortunately, I gave this another chance, and it gets better every time I watch it.

Taken as it is, it's just a character study of two people and what love & devotion means to each other individually and as an unlikely couple... IMHO this is a masterpiece of a film from the late, great Sydney Pollack.

On another note, Against All Odds might be interesting if it's a good transfer. There's some fantastic tropical footage in that film, although it's a little 'long in the tooth'. I've seen that one a few too many times, I think. Had it on LD way back when.

Hmm...maybe i'll give it another shot. Feel free to PM me for what I should look out for.

I *did* hate the fact that they included a ton of deleted scenes WITHOUT the original audio. So stupid. The only way to listen was with a commentary by Pollack.
The Devil's Advocate was the same.
