Still one of my favorite movies from the 80s. Maybe because the main characters were not only my age at the time it was released, but were real. These kds weren't sugar coated, golly gee pre-teens. They used curse words and picked on each other. Yet, they still stuck together. Child actors can be tricky. You either get over the top performances or kids that seem to be reading off of cue cards. The Goonies had a great group of actors that seemed really natural. I believed they were the real group of friends they portrayed.

As an adult, I have to curb my need to point out the many technical issues of the film(Where was all the light coming from in an underground cave?) to fully enjoy it. But it's easy to forget once you get into the pure adventure of the film.

What, you mean you didn't see this?

Cyndi Lauper's video "The Goonies R Good Enough". (SD, 13 min)
They made two videos for the theme song, one before the movie's release and one after, and created a two-part story paralleling the movie's story and using its sets. Famed wrestlers Rowdy Roddy Piper, Fred Blassie, Iron Sheik tried to foreclose on Cyndi's gas station and the Goonies help her find Willie's treasure.

Yeah, I think Captain Lou Albano was in a few of her videos.

"For fans only"

Might as well say "must buy"

EVERYONE is a fan of The Goonies. How can you be a child of the 80's and not enjoy it :-D

I gotta say Warner Home Video is really pushing people to buy this special edition by NOT having a normal release of the movie for the holidays. Sad to tell you i hate this approach, for maybe 4-6 months no regular edition will be available.

While i love the Goonies, i really dont see myself spending more than say $16-18 USD on sale at amazon for this movie. so $35 for a special edition is just too much and to be honest... i dont like using up so much space on my movie shelf for one movie.

Great movie, it's good to see that the disk came out alright. I'm still going to wait for a price drop though, way to expensive.
