i've been digging through this set the last week. it's a damn awesome show, and so far i've loved the hell out of it. i must say it sucks that some of the characters in season 1 were killed off, as they were some of the best ones in the show. all i know is for all the fear, hearst and the pinkertons better be worth all this talk.

mcshane's performance is by far the best part of the show, in my eyes. season 2 he's just unbelievably good.

here's why deadwood was let go. it wasn't ratings. it had decent ratings. milch had another pilot that HBO thought would be the next sopranos and wanted milch to do that one. the show was john from Cincinnati. no one watched it.and was gone within a year. and we had no fourth and final season of deadwood.

lmao

I remember my folks asking me if I thought they would like the series. I warned my Mom about the language and she said she was used to it between my father and I (Navy household, go figure).

She watched just a couple episodes and said the language was too much for her, citing that word above all others (she can handle F bombs all day long, but....)

The language to me just felt unnatural and even unnecessary.. it detracted from the experience for me.

Dude, you're over thinking it. Simply blame those San Francisco cocksuckers!

What an outstanding show. I'm just glad we got 36 episodes. I will re-visit this show more than any other.

i absolutely loved the Wu/Swearengen scene in season 1, i think it is, when they're doing the back and forth, when wu is trying to tell Swedgen (LOL) about his courier being killed by the 2 opium junkies. that exchange had to be one of the funniest, funniest damn things i've seen in a show, comedy or no.
