Default Criterion / PS3 Compatibility issues?

I've had an issue with two of my Criterion Blu-ray movies. Around the second to last chapter of both Yojimbo and The Seventh Seal, both movies seem to freeze, I've seen other people have had the same issues with the same two movies.

Has anyone had this problem with any other Criterion Blu's or seen any sort of a fix anywhere on the internet?

No problems for me either (PS3 slim 120). I know this is not the most convenient advice but try playing the movies back on a different PS3 or standalone player to try and determine if the discs are the problem--perhaps over at a friend's house, or at a local store willing to let you?

Edit: Also, try deleting any BD Data Utility files you might have stored in your PS3 to see if that helps?

They do in fact work on my other Blu-ray player. I deleted the the utility files and tried the Seventh Seal and it seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks!

Hi,

Did this also fix your issue with Yojimbo? I had the same problem with freezing, but it was around the end of chapter 19 (retribution) when the sake storage tanks are destroyed. However, deleting the utility files and restarting did not fix the problem.

I have a 60GB PS3 (with PS2 backwards compatibility) and the latest update (3.50).

Thanks!

Has anyone found a fix for this? I just popped in Yojimbo for the first time and had the same issue in the exact same chapter. I've got a 40GB PS3 fat and the latest firmware. This sucks because I've never seen the movie before, now I'm half way through and without another way to finish it.
