Default Is it worth buying again?

I just wanted to know if the Digital Video Essentials calibration disc on Blu-ray (HD Basics) is worth buying if I already own the HD-DVD version back in 2008.

I don't own the HD Basics version but the previous one simply called DVE (HD-DVD combo version).

Does anyone own both of these and if so, are there any differences between the two?

I wasn't too happy with my HD-DVD version as it was very difficult to navigate through the menus and test screens. Does the Blu-ray version make it easier and explain each screen? I also had a hard time with the test patterns....the disc never really helps you out with each screen. I had to guess most of the time with my tv remote and just "winged it" for the most part. Does the BR copy improve this at all?

I'm not going to waste my money (even though it's only $18.00 at Amazon) if it's practically the same disc. Can anyone shed some light on the BR version for me?

Thanks!

Probably should have mentioned the disc title in the thread name.
(I don't know the answer to your question).

No. I had DVE on HD DVD as well and didn't like it at all and got rid of it. Too freaking complicated, and it's stupid that you have to watch the standard def DVD side for instructions to try to figure things out. Get a copy of Spears & Munsil - much easier to use but very thorough.

Disney's World of Wonder, which just came out sounds like it going to be a great calibration disc also. May want to try that one.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Paaron!

At first I thought you were pulling my leg but I decided to Google it and found it to be the real thing! The first thing that came to mind was "Disney has a calibration disc???...this must be a joke!".....but I was wrong!

After doing some research on Disney's WOW, I think I'm going to give it a shot. I plan on ordering it through Amazon.ca and from what I've read online (pdf manual) it looks really promising. Just hope once I get it I'm not disappointed. I've never been happy with Joe Kane's titles.....I pray this one from Disney is easier to use.

Thanks again for the info! Can't wait to see what it can do for my HDTV!
