I'm dying for details on this release (not that I have high hopes). Does anyone know anything besides 'new extras'? Is there any chance at all we're getting a new transfer here?

No word yet. Knowing MGM, it's probably the same transfer just with some new supplements tacked on. Although to be fair, I thought the old transfer was strong.

It's solid and satisfying, but it could definitely be better and, considering the renown for this film's cinematography, I think another bite at the apple is certainly warranted.

well for one, that cover art is fucking terrible. it looks like an early 90s Sports Illustrated for Kids drawing of what should be a very dark and very brooding De Niro.

i think the transfer for the original is great, perhaps even excellent.

if there is a new transfer, and it's unbelievable, then i'll buy but really, this, together with the first release, is a pretty stupid fact from MGM.

wouldn't it be hilarious if they just added the DVD and that was the only change?

"if WB and goodfellas can do it (something similar), then why can't we?"
