Default 'Three Kings' - High-Def Digest Review

Our review of 'Three Kings' has just been posted. Michael Palmer says this is a unique film that holds up well. This Blu-ray features strong, visually striking picture, equally effective audio, and all the extras from the 2000 DVD (though some updated 2010 Iraq perspectives might have been a nice touch considering this plays like Iraq Part I in light of current events). Recommended.

I don't often comment on grammar, but I have to say something here. This review would be better with about half as many commas and a few more sentences. The opening sentence is more than a mouthful.

Quote:
In movies, tone can be everything, especially when the intent is to balance humor with pointed seriousness, a heist film with the tropes and politics of the war film genre.

"does anyone else miss the overly enthusiastic, nice guy thing Wahlberg used to do in the late 90s?"

What do you mean, "used to do?" It's the only note he can play. That's why it's so fun to watch him in serious movies!

Nice. I always liked this movie, one of the few DVDs I've watched multiple times since I got a decent collection of Blu-rays.

The first sentence of the review is indeed in need of some editing. This sentence is also kind of overlong and has a typo:

So where to draw the line? Overall, 'Three Kings' looks great on Blu-ray, remaining accurate to its original theatrical exhibition, and this is the best it's ever looked, but these filmmaking techniques tend to reduce resolution and contrast if not hanbdled carefully when transferred to HD.
Anyway, this was a fun film and I look forward to owning it.

He doesn't play a overly enthusiastic, nice guy in The Departed or the Other Guys (well he's not nice anyways).

This was an entertaining movie. I think the scene where they use a football to take down a helicopter deserves to knock it down a star.
