Default 'Psycho: 50th Anniversary Edition' - High-Def Digest Review

We've just posted what we've gotta say is one damn fine review of ''Psycho: 50th Anniversary Edition.' David Krauss says the influential film will forever be instantly associated with Hitchcock, but is it The Master's best film? Well....read on. As for the Blu-ray, this features excellent video, equally great audio, and a veritable shower of extra features. This is highly recommended.

Terrific review Mr. Krauss. 'Psycho' is an amazing film that should be appreciated equally for its history and immense influence as well as it's tone and masterful style.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

liked the revvy as well. i love david's openers, his sentence structure and transitions. pretty classy.

i'm waiting on buying this disc. with all the shit going on right now, so many huge titles, and this one with no limited time offer (packaging variation, dvd, digital copy, so on), it just can wait. it's a must, and i WILL buy it hopefully in december or january, but saving $ right now, AGAIN.

Yeah, I've watched this 4-5 times since I got my UK steelbook. The shit never gets old.

I want more Hitchcock.

Damn, I did not just say that.

*hopes that nobody notices*

This film has the best WTF ever in a film.
The part where the guy says "Norman Bate's mother has been buried in the cemetary for years".
WTF!!!

"What is Alfred Hitchcock's best film?"

It's Vertigo.

There's not really a debate.

Rear Window is right up there.

it's too hard to pick a best hitchcock movie, so yeah, it is up for debate

the ones i'd throw out there are vertigo, rear window, north by northwest and notorious

Use spoiler tags, there are a lot of people that have never seen this and this film is particularly easy to ruin in as little as one sentence

Good review, but I disagree that Psycho is an anomaly in the Hitchcock canon. If anything, it builds on the misogyny and sexual overtones in his previous work, particularly in Notorious, Rear Window, and Vertigo. Or, for that matter, his films that followed Psycho, such as Marnie, The Birds, and Frenzy.

That being said, it would be nice to see more of his films on blu-ray, particularly The Trouble With Harry. I do have a soft spot in my heart for that one.
